7-3 Settings
Refer to "2-1 Making Settings and Connections" (Page 2-2) for the procedure for making
settings and connections.
The section explains how to make settings concerning the N-410, BL Series devices and the PLC.
BL Series and SR Series Settings (When Using an NR-4/N-48/BL-U1)
1. Set multi-drop to "Enabled".
2. Set the ID number of the code reader to be connected to a number from 1 to 31. Make sure
that no ID numbers are duplicated.
3. Change the settings for baud rate, data bits and stop bit length to match the RS-485 side of
the N-410 settings. The factory default settings are as follows.
* The maximum baud rate for the BL-700/600/180 Series and the BL-210RK Series is 38400
bit/s. When connecting the BL Series, set the RS-485 baud rate to 38400 bit/s or less.
4. The communication protocol disables the RTS/CTS protocol, even if it is set.
5. Do not make any header settings. Terminator settings are also disabled.
The following settings will also be required if using multi-head mode.
6. When using BL (SR) Series devices with an N-410 in multi-head mode, set the code reader's
read mode to "single".
7. Set the trigger input setting method to "level synchronization".
8. Set the read error code to the default value of "ERROR".
9. Set the read start/stop codes to the default values of "LON/LOFF".
10. Do not make any settings for data addition.
BL Series and SR Series Settings (When Using an NX-50RS)
1. Set multi-drop to "Disabled".
* If using an NX-50RS, the NX-50RS controls all communications with the N-410. Set the NX-
50RS as follows.
2. Set the head automatic connection under "Head communication" to "enabled".
3. Set the ID number of the NX device to be connected to a number from 1 to 31 in the RS-485
settings. Make sure that no ID numbers are duplicated.
4. Change the settings for baud rate, data bits and stop bit length to match the RS-485 side of
the N-410 settings. The factory default settings for the NX-50RS are as follows.
Change other settings as necessary.
Model BL Series SR Series N-410
Baud rate 9600 bit/s 115200 bit/s 115200 bit/s
Data bits 7 bit 8 bit 8 bit
Parity Even Even Even
Stop bit length 1 bit 1 bit 1 bit
